An audience.........
May 7, 2007
An audience by definition is:
The spectators or listeners assembled at a performance, for example, or attracted by a radio or television program.
They can either listen politely or take active participation. For our gig this past weekend, I would say active participation. They were great. In turn , we fed off of them. It made for a great night all around.
I cannot imagine sitting in the background. Ever.

Independance
April 6, 2007
I never thought I would be in a position to write such a blog. That position? A helpless and vulnerable one. In that I rely on others now to assist me in everyday tasks. Something I have NEVER DONE BEFORE AND HOPE TO NEVER DO AGAIN.
It is tiring having an injury. People try to help by comparing their stories to mine. Thanks but no thanks. Yours is not the same as mine simply because it is yours and this is mine. If the doctors don't know, then surely you don't know. Hell I don't even know. But there they try and try and try.............................
So I implore all to appreciate what you have today, because as the songs and the sayings go...it can be fleeting. Never take for granted your feet, legs, back, heart etc. Because in a moments notice they could be gone or no longer work properly.
If my back heals, and I am able to walk properly again, I will walk with the goofiest grin known to mankind as I will be happy to once again have my................................ independance.

Saddam Hussein's execution
December 30, 2006
I don't have much to offer regarding this issue and regarding the video I witnessed. His crimes against against humanity finally caught up with him. In Exodus says "an eye for an eye...a tooth for a tooth". Primitive? Reverse moral progress? Modern barbarism? Perhaps.
Peace out

Christmas Time is here.....
December 20, 2006
Christmas Time is here is one of my favorite times of year and this title is also to one of my favorite songs. Most people will remember it from Charlie Brown Christmas.
No cards were done or sent out this year. I think it is my first time ever that I did not get them out. I cannot even blame myself for being disorganized. Rather the past 3 months have been a whirlwind of musical activity.
My wish for this season is to connect with friends and family and to my out of town friends I hope we connect live over the holiday season.
Merry Christmas All

Surprise and Hope
November 24, 2006
Surprise: to come upon or discover suddenly and unexpectedly.
Hope: to look forward to with desire and reasonable confidence.
I write this today but will not yet disclose why I have chosen to add this to my blog. They are 2 powerful little words that pack a real punch when added together. To those that know me well, they would likely add that these two words are not very often in my vocabulary. But i see now why they must be.
Without these words, then we really have absolutely nothing to look forward to.

After November 11th
November 12, 2006
Well it was a long day yesterday of singing and playing the pipes, but all in all a very good one.
I particularly enjoyed the Remembrance Day Service yesterday as there were 3 young teenagers that wrote poems for the event. In their writing it revealed that they 'got it'. That they understood a little of what sacrifices were made during the 1st, 2nd, Korean, recent and current wars. I was encouraged by this as I suspect others were too.
I will make myself sound old here by saying this but it has to be said. Too many youth and young adults and hell even adults just don't care about the past and the sacrifices made so that they can be whatever it is they want to be. That scares me and makes me terribly sad. Not that we are to live in the past, but if we are foolish enough to think that this freedom is free????? I think not. Ask the over 100, 000 soldiers families and friends who have lost them as they made the ultimate sacrifice. This came at a terrible cost and one that we should never forget.
And to the white poppy people and...

60 People in a Basement
November 7, 2006
Well it worked. 60 people crammed into my basement for what turned out to be a FABULOUS surprise party for my dad. The mix of people was fantastic. We had a piano player, bagpipes both soloists and band and the drinks were a plentiful. Happy Birthday Dad!!

November proving to be a very busy month thus far
November 7, 2006
Well I have always maintained, take it when it comes. So musically this month has been great with lots of gigs. Though combining this with full-time work can prove to be challenging at times, for the most part it is manageable.
If those darn lottery numbers would just come in.................................
